St. Bartholomew's and the Juet Development Program

Juet Picture

The JUET Development Program is a long-term development program for the southern Sudanese village of Juet. Its initial goal is to raise $80,000 to build four water pumps, four schools and one medical clinic, all of which can be built by local and regional contractors within one month of attaining the goal. Southern Sudan is currently rebuilding from Africa's longest civil war, a war that left over 2 million people dead. Juet was not spared from the carnage and continues to suffer residual effects.

As a result of massive refugee movements from the war, there is now a Sudanese Diaspora within the United States. With the foundation of the USA Juet Community, that Diaspora has come together with the common cause of building a brighter future.

Once $2,000 has been raised, it will be possible to send a surveyor to southern Sudan. That surveyor will take photographs, conduct interviews, record testimonies and seek out competitive building contracts, all of which will paint a full and compelling picture of the realities and needs on the ground.
